“I was hooked,” Russ recalls. “For a wedding photographer who was still building a business, having the entire wedding industry come to a screeching halt was terrifying,” she explains. She kept learning, kept networking, and kept saying yes to opportunities, navigating a period of unprecedented uncertainty with resilience. She began to implement crucial boundaries, scheduling actual office hours and being deliberate about client communication. Weekends, once her prime work days, now include non-negotiable family time. Birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings are blocked out far in advance. “I’ve learned that building a successful business shouldn’t require me to sacrifice the life I’m building outside of it,” she asserts. This shift has not only protected her well-being but also revitalized her creativity, ensuring she brings her best to every couple she serves.
